"The Thing on the Fourble Board" [remastered] One of Radio's Greatest Horror Stories!

video upload by Suspense & ESCAPE!

"This is from the critically acclaimed series "Quiet Please" which was broadcast by the Mutual Network and then ABC 1947 - 1949. The format is quite unique, with most of the shows being told by one guy just as if he was telling you a story personally. Many classic radio fans, radio critics, and radio historians have said that "The Thing on the Fourble Board" is perhaps the MOST SCARY horror story ever broadcast! Since I personally discovered this program several years ago, I couldn't disagree. If you isolate yourself when listening, it IS scary! The one unfortunate thing about "Quiet Please" is that the only recordings which survive are *BADLY scratched vinyl records, with many nearly impossible to hear. They're practically impossible to restore. This episode was no exception, but over the years with improved technology the actual audio has been retrieved from within the scratches finally making it listenable! So here it is, with much improved (but never to be prefect) sound. Created, written and produced by WYLLIS COOPER, with most episodes being told be veteran announcer Ernest Chappell who does just a great job.
• Broadcast only once on August 9, 1948

√✓√✓√✓√✓√ IMPORTANT: To properly listen to this very scary story, you must go into the bedroom and turn out the lights . . . Then build a fort under your covers and hide!"

Nosferatu Analog Synth Soundtrack

deitersmonkey

"The world’s first cinema Vampire: 1922 FW Murnau’s silent film (Public Domain) with my own musical compositions using 40 year old analog synthesizers to augment the haunting, stylized German expressionist classic. There were many blown capacitors and broken pure silver key trigger wires along the way. This film was forced to be destroyed by Bram Stokers widow, due to the obvious plagiarism of 1897’s Dracula. It survived as copies were found in cinemas during the 60’s."

Cosmic Face

via Hubble Space Telescope

"In celebration of Halloween, this new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope captures two galaxies of equal size in a collision that appears to resemble a ghostly face. This observation was made on 19 June 2019 in visible light by the telescope’s Advanced Camera for Surveys.

Although galaxy collisions are common — especially in the early universe — most are not head-on impacts like the collision that likely created this Arp-Madore system 704 million light-years from Earth. This violent encounter gives the system an arresting ring structure, but only for a short amount of time. The crash has pulled and stretched the galaxies’ discs of gas, dust, and stars outward, forming the ring of intense star formation that shapes the “nose” and “face” features of the system.

Ring galaxies are rare, and only a few hundred of them reside in our larger cosmic neighbourhood. The galaxies have to collide at just the right orientation so that they interact to create the ring, and before long they will have merged completely, hiding their messy past..."
