Peacock Spider 13 (Maratus personatus)

Published on Apr 4, 2015 Peacockspiderman

"Maratus personatus from Cape Riche near Albany in southwestern Western Australia. You can download its scientific description by clicking on 127.1 in Peckhamia http://peckhamia.com/peckhamia_number...

To the best of my knowledge this spider was discovered by David Knowles from Perth. In 2012 David sent me photographs of it, taken 20years or so earlier and accompanied by his common name for it "Pied Bluemask Peacock Salspider". In October 2013 I managed to find some individuals and raised some juveniles they produced to adulthood.

All scenes you see are at the original speed, that is the way the spider moves. Since there is so much interest in this spider and many wonder how the story ends.....I MIGHT MAKE A SEQUEL !"
