Yooperlite Glow Rocks

Published on Jul 24, 2019 Wonder World

"Yooperlites are Syenites rich in fluorescent Sodalite, found on Lake Superior beaches in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Discovered by Erik Rintamaki in 2017 and published for that discovery in 2018.

It’s technically called a “Syenite Clasts Containing Fluorescent Sodalite” but Erik wanted something easier to pronounce. So he coined the name “Yooperlite” and has now trademarked the Yooperlite name.

Yooperlites have become a worldwide phenomenon with coverage in every major newspaper and TV outlet in the world.

Thanks for watching."
